Franchise recruitment marketing is the combination of online campaigns, content and follow-up with which a franchisor finds suitable entrepreneurs to open new locations. As a recruitment marketing agency for franchises, we build that recruitment route: from the first ad to a scheduled introductory meeting with your expansion manager.
In brief: recruitment marketing
- Franchise recruitment marketing is online marketing aimed at recruiting new franchisees, not customers.
- A candidate's research phase lasts months; so you need a route, not a one-off ad.
- We build the funnel: recruitment page, content, LinkedIn, Google Ads and email follow-up.
- The budget should ideally come from the franchisor, not from the franchisees' marketing fund.
- We measure qualified leads, meetings and signed agreements, not clicks.
- Gijs Bodenstaff built up a franchise brand himself and knows the recruitment conversation from the inside.
Why does recruiting franchisees work differently from recruiting staff?
A prospective franchisee is not looking for a job, but for a business. They invest their own money, take risks and sign up for years. The research phase therefore takes a long time: they compare franchise brands, talk to existing franchisees, work through a business plan and consult their partner and bank. A job advert does not work here. What works is honest information that builds trust, and a route the candidate can follow at their own pace. According to the NFV, 936 franchise brands in the Netherlands compete for the same entrepreneurs; standing out requires a clear proposition.
| Aspect | Staff recruitment | Recruiting franchisees |
|---|---|---|
| Decision | Days to weeks | Months |
| Candidate's investment | None | Own capital and financing |
| Key question | What will I earn? | Is this a healthy business for me? |
| Content required | Job advert | Stories, figures, investment, support |
What does a recruitment funnel for franchisees look like?
We work with four phases. Each phase has its own content, channels and goal. That way you address the candidate where they are, instead of asking everyone for a meeting straight away.
| Phase | Goal | Channels and content |
|---|---|---|
| Awareness | Entrepreneurs know your franchise brand | LinkedIn, social advertising, PR, Google Ads |
| Research | Insight into investment and way of working | Recruitment page, brochure, FAQ, stories |
| Consideration | Trust and personal contact | Webinar, information day, email series |
| Decision | Introductory meeting | Fast follow-up, phone appointment, location visit |
Which content persuades potential franchisees to apply?
Honest information beats fine promises. Candidates want to know what they will invest, what they can realistically earn, what a working week looks like and what support they will receive. Stories from existing franchisees carry the most weight; we create them together with you and your franchisees. You can read how to use LinkedIn for those stories in finding franchisees via LinkedIn.
| Content | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Story from an existing franchisee | Credible and relatable |
| Overview of investment and terms | Filters out unsuitable candidates |
| A day in the life of a franchisee | Shows the real work |
| Questions and answers about the franchise brand | Removes barriers |

Which channels do we use for franchise recruitment marketing?
LinkedIn is strong for entrepreneurs and managers who are considering going it alone. Google Ads captures candidates who are already actively searching for a franchise in your sector; that is the subject of franchisee lead generation with Google Ads. Social advertising on Facebook and Instagram reaches a wider group, such as employees in your sector who want to become their own boss. Franchise portals and trade fairs remain useful as a supplement, but we make sure you are not dependent on a single portal.
Why is fast lead follow-up so important?
A candidate who requests a brochure is usually comparing several franchise brands at once. Whoever responds personally within a day makes the best impression. That is why we also set up the follow-up: an automatic confirmation, a personal email series and a notification to your expansion manager. We also qualify candidates in advance with a few questions about own capital, region and experience, so your team spends its time on the right candidates.
| Moment | Action |
|---|---|
| Immediately after the request | Automatic confirmation with brochure |
| Within 1 working day | Personal response from the expansion manager |
| Day 3 to 21 | Email series with stories and answers |
| After the meeting | Invitation to visit a location |
How do you measure the success of recruitment marketing?
On quality, not quantity. We measure per channel: leads, qualified leads, meetings and ultimately signed agreements, with the cost per step. That way you can see which channel delivers entrepreneurs who actually get started. A step-by-step plan for a complete campaign can be found in a franchisee recruitment campaign.
Which budget should pay for franchisee recruitment?
Ideally the franchisor's growth budget. The marketing fund to which franchisees contribute is intended for customer-facing marketing. Paying for the recruitment of new franchisees out of it often leads to debate in the franchisee advisory council. You can read more about that split in splitting the marketing budget. The service itself is described under recruitment marketing for franchisors.
