Outsourcing franchise marketing: better results without an extra FTE

Outsource your franchise brand's marketing to a specialist in chains and local visibility.

By Gijs Bodenstaff · Updated:

Outsourcing franchise marketing means an external specialist takes over the delivery of your national and local marketing, while you stay in control. For a marketing team short on time or specialist knowledge, that is often cheaper and more effective than hiring someone. On this page you can read when it pays off, what it costs and what to look out for.

In brief: outsourcing franchise marketing

  • Outsourcing franchise marketing means a specialist takes over the delivery of national and local marketing, while you stay in control.
  • It pays off especially for franchise brands with around ten locations or more and a team short on time or specialist knowledge.
  • Local visibility costs €99 to €400 per location per month; strategy €65 per hour with a fixed quote.
  • Accounts, profiles and data always remain the property of head office.
  • You start with a free scan of three locations and a one-quarter pilot.

When does it make sense to outsource franchise marketing?

Outsourcing pays off when the work no longer matches your team's capacity and knowledge. In our experience there are five signals that almost always occur together.

  • Your team spends more time on ad hoc questions from locations than on strategy.
  • Google Business Profiles are incomplete, duplicated or managed by former employees.
  • Reviews are not answered, or answered too late.
  • Franchisees ask what they get back for the marketing fee.
  • Nobody knows whether AI assistants mention your locations.

Recognise three or more? Then a free scan of three locations is a logical first step.

What are the benefits of outsourcing to a franchise specialist?

The biggest benefit is focus. Your team steers on brand, strategy and franchisees; the specialist does the labour-intensive local work for all locations at once.

Outsource or hire an extra marketer?

An extra marketer is valuable, but one person rarely masters all the specialisms that franchise marketing requires. On top of that you have to deal with recruitment, onboarding time, sickness and holidays. Outsourcing gives you capacity and knowledge straight away, and can be budgeted per location.

Who takes over your franchise marketing?

A permanent team, without changing account managers. Founder Gijs Bodenstaff set up a franchise brand himself in ten countries and has worked on local visibility since 2010; he is your fixed point of contact. Angela analyses visibility and leads per location, Elisabeth manages local Google Ads, Peter builds local authority and ten regular freelancers, trained by us, look after profiles and reviews per location. Co-author Stanley Leijnse provides research, such as the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Ketens 2026. Everyone works according to the same method, with weekly training on changes at Google.

Frequently asked questions about outsourcing marketing

Will I lose control if I outsource marketing?
No. You decide on the strategy, the brand and the budget. We carry out the work, report monthly and ask for approval on new materials. Accounts and data remain with head office.
From how many locations does outsourcing make sense?
From around ten locations. Below that, we often recommend a one-off set-up plus training for your own team.
How quickly can I start?
We usually carry out the free scan within a week. A pilot can then start within two to four weeks.
Do you also work alongside our current agency?
Yes. Often we handle the local part while a creative agency remains responsible for the brand campaigns. We coordinate on planning and house style.
Is there a minimum contract term?
We work with a one-quarter pilot. After that the partnership continues monthly with a reasonable notice period, so you are never locked in.
What is the difference between outsourcing franchise marketing and hiring an advertising agency?
An advertising agency mainly creates national brand campaigns. Outsourcing franchise marketing also covers local delivery per location: profiles, reviews, local campaigns and support for franchisees.
Can we outsource one part first?
Yes. Many franchise brands start with Google Business Profiles and review management, because that is where most of the time goes and the gains become visible quickly.
What does it cost to outsource franchise marketing?
Local visibility costs €99 (Basic), €250 (Growth) or €400 (Full service) per location per month, excluding VAT. Strategy, advice and training are charged at €65 per hour, with a fixed quote in advance. You pay advertising budget for Google and social directly to the platform, not through us.
Is outsourcing better than hiring an extra marketer for your franchise system?
Often it is, because one marketer rarely masters every specialism franchise marketing requires, such as local SEO, GEO, ads and reviews. A new employee also needs recruiting and onboarding, and is unavailable during illness or holidays. Outsourcing gives you capacity straight away, costs per location and a fixed way of working with documentation.
Outsource franchise marketing: which questions should you ask when choosing a franchise marketing agency?
Ask who owns the accounts and profiles (the right answer: always head office), how the agency deals with franchisees, how it reports per location, how it measures AI visibility and whether a pilot is possible. The answers quickly reveal whether an agency has real experience with chains.
